Dr. Cheryl Matthew, PhD

Dr. Cheryl Matthew, PhD, is a Secwépemc scholar, author, and ceremonial guide who walks between worlds — land and ceremony, research and story, ancestral wisdom and modern activism. Across more than 25 years she has worked at the intersection of Indigenous governance, research, and land-based healing.

Her research career spans Indigenous governments, the non-profit sector, the federal government, academia, and consulting — work that strengthens Indigenous governance, sustainability, and reconciliation. She now carries that knowledge to a wider readership through her books.

She writes across fiction and nonfiction — accessible non-fiction such as Reconciliation Over Coffee and Everyday Intentions, and land-based fiction includingOf Spirit and Bone: Legacy of the Wolves, withPrince of Veya forthcoming. Her books are published by The Wolf Star Press, an imprint of 12 Lodges Inc. Through Q Healing and the Qweqwetsin Family & Healing Lodge, she brings land-based healing home to community — ceremony, youth, and language belonging together.
