Everyday Intentions Is Published: Indigenous Wisdom for Healing, Integration and Intentional Living

Draft for Cheryl Matthew’s review only. Not for publication.
Weytk. Welcome.
I am Dr. Cheryl Matthew, an Indigenous author, instructor, storyteller, and land steward of the Secwépemc Nation.
I write from the meeting place of scholarship and ceremony.
From the classroom.
From the land.
From the quiet teachings that continue to guide us toward right relationship with self, one another, the land, and spirit.
Today, I am honoured to announce that Everyday Intentions: Indigenous Wisdom for Healing, Integration and Intentional Living is published and available now.
Published. Available Now.
This book is an invitation to return to what matters.
It is a practical and reflective guide for anyone seeking healing, personal growth, integration, and a more intentional way of living.
It is for the person standing at a crossroads.
The person carrying old stories.
The person longing to feel more connected to their body, their relationships, their community, the land, and their own spirit.
Healing is not a destination. It is a way of living.
That truth is at the heart of Everyday Intentions.
The book does not promise a perfect life.
It offers a different way of meeting life.
With attention.
With compassion.
With responsibility.
With the courage to ask better questions.
Wisdom for the Everyday
Healing is often imagined as something that happens far away from ordinary life.
On retreat.
In a ceremony.
During a major transformation.
But healing also happens at the kitchen table.
In the way we begin the morning.
In the choices we make when no one is watching.
In the conversations we are willing to have.
In the way we listen to the land.
Everyday Intentions brings Indigenous teachings and ceremonial wisdom into reflective practices that can support daily living.
The work is grounded in relationship.
Not isolation.
Not individual achievement at any cost.
Relationship with self.
Relationship with one another.
Relationship with the land.
Relationship with spirit.
These relationships are not separate.
They speak to one another.
When one becomes strained, the others may call for our attention.
When one begins to heal, the possibilities can reach much farther than we first imagined.

The Heart Resonance Framework
At the centre of the book is The Heart Resonance Framework, a reflective approach for recognizing the patterns, beliefs, emotions, and relationships that shape our lives.
The framework helps us notice what we are carrying.
It helps us listen to what our hearts, bodies, communities, and surroundings may be telling us.
It invites us to consider whether our actions are aligned with our deeper values.
This is not about judging ourselves.
It is about becoming honest enough to begin again.
The movement from Shadow Resonance toward Light Resonance is not a simple line from struggle to success.
It is a practice of integration.
Shadow Resonance may reveal pain, fear, disconnection, grief, inherited patterns, or ways of being that once helped us survive.
Light Resonance does not require us to deny those experiences.
It asks us to meet them with awareness.
With care.
With truth.
With a willingness to choose differently.
The goal is not to become untouched by difficulty.
The goal is to become more integrated in how we respond to it.
Indigenous Wisdom and Personal Growth
Indigenous wisdom for healing is not a trend or a decorative concept.
It is living knowledge rooted in land, community, responsibility, memory, and relationship.
It reminds us that personal growth is never only personal.
The ways we heal influence the people around us.
The ways we live affect the land.
The choices we make can strengthen or weaken the relationships that sustain us.
This understanding changes the question.
Instead of asking only, “What do I want?”
We may also ask:
“What am I responsible for?”
“What relationship is asking for repair?”
“What is the land teaching me?”
“What would it mean to live in a way that honours what has been entrusted to me?”
These questions can be uncomfortable.
They can also be liberating.
Affirmative inquiry does not ignore pain.
It creates space to discover possibility within truth.
A Book for Beginning Again
Everyday Intentions is designed for both quiet reflection and practical application.
You can read it slowly.
You can return to a single teaching.
You can use the reflective practices as prompts for journaling, conversation, prayer, ceremony, or personal contemplation.
There is no single correct way to move through the book.
Your life will shape what you notice.
Your relationships will shape what you understand.
The land will continue to offer its own teachings.
The important thing is to begin.
Begin with one intention.
One breath.
One honest reflection.
One small act of reconnection.

A Resource for the Journey
This book was created for individuals navigating healing, life transitions, personal growth, and integration.
It may also support educators, facilitators, leaders, helping professionals, and communities seeking thoughtful ways to explore intentional living.
It is a companion for those who want to move beyond quick fixes.
Beyond performance.
Beyond the belief that healing must look impressive to be real.
Sometimes healing looks like rest.
Sometimes it looks like setting a boundary.
Sometimes it looks like telling the truth.
Sometimes it looks like returning to the land, returning to community, or returning to yourself.
Small intentions can become lasting change.
Not because every day is easy.
Because every day offers another opportunity to practice relationship.

A book can become a threshold.
A conversation can become a threshold.
An intention can become a threshold.
We do not always know what will open when we take the next step.

Walking Together
The work of healing asks us to walk with humility.
It asks us to remember that knowledge is carried through relationship.
It asks us to honour the people, lands, ancestors, and teachings that help us become who we are.
Everyday Intentions is offered in that spirit.
It is not a finish line.
It is not a set of instructions that can replace community, ceremony, professional care, or lived experience.
It is an invitation to pay attention.
To listen more deeply.
To make choices that bring our lives into closer alignment with what we value.
We are living through a time that calls for greater care.
Greater honesty.
Greater responsibility.
The work begins in the everyday.
In how we speak.
In how we repair.
In how we welcome rest.
In how we honour the land.
In how we choose relationship over disconnection.
May this book meet you where you are.
May it offer a question when you need a question.
May it offer a practice when you need a practice.
May it remind you that transformation does not always arrive with noise.
Sometimes it arrives quietly.
One intention at a time.
Healing is not a destination. It is a way of living.
And we do not have to walk that way alone.
